GPA Projection

The GPA Projection portlet allows students to enter possible grades for their current classes and predict their term GPA and overall GPA.  Students can also use this portlet to provide two of three possible variables (Additional Credits, Average GPA for Additional Credits and Resulting GPA) and use these variables to calculate the third variable.

Functions

• Current Term Projection

  This tab displays the student's Current GPA, Career Credits and a table containing all the student's current Course List.  To determine the Current Term Projection:

  • Enter the GPA Projection portlet and select the Program which is to be projected in the drop-down menu provided.

  • The Current Term Projection tab should display by default.  If it does not, click on the tab at the top of the screen.

  • Career GPA and Career Credits will display, as well as a Course List of current classes that the student is registered for.  In the Course List section, check the box in the Include for each class that will be included in the grade projection.  

  • For each class included in the grade projection, select the grade in the Projected Grade drop-down list box.

  • Click the Create Projection button to generate the projected GPA.

  • The Projected Results will display below, showing Earned Credits, GPA Credits, GPA for Selected Courses, and Career GPA based on the student's past course history and the projection options entered.

• GPA Calculator

  • Enter the GPA Projection portlet and select the Program for which a GPA will be calculated in the drop-down menu provided.

  • Click the GPA Calculator tab at the top of the screen.

  • Select either the Use your actual Career GPA/Credits radio button or the Use the results from the Projection Tab (if you entered information on the Current Term Projection screen) radio button to select your starting values.

  • Enter numbers into two of the three boxes listed: Additional Credits, Average GPA for the Additional Credits and Resultant GPA.

  •  Click the Calculate button to determine the remaining box's value. For more accurate results, enter values into the GPA boxes with 4 decimal places.  The resulting values may not be realistic depending upon the values you entered. For example: Your current GPA is 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.  You project for 30 additional credits and want to see if you could achieve a resultant GPA of 4.0.  Calculating this value results in a GPA of over 4.0, but as 4.0 is the maximum GPA, the portlet will only report that you need a 4.0 to achieve the desired results.

• Printer Friendly Version

  • Open the GPA Projection portlet.

  • Click the Printer Friendly link or the () icon.

  • A new browser window opens and displays the printer friendly version.

  • Click the Send to Printer button.

  • To exit, click the Exit Print Mode link or the () icon.
