Description
This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the principles of Emergency Management. It focuses on the practices and policies of the Emergency Management field. In addition to exploring the history and evolution of the profession, the course will focus on the disaster cycle, including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The student will learn about the relationships between federal, state, and local agencies in a disaster, as well as explore the disaster's social, political, and economic implications of disasters. This course may be co-listed with ERM 501. After completing a co-listed course, a student may not complete the course with which it is co-listed for credit without written approval of the appropriate Division Chair.
