Description

Sustainable agriculture involves the application of ecological science to the design and management of sustainable agroecosystems. This course
provides an opportunity to experience and study the sustainable agricultural practices of our surrounding mountain community via hands-on field trips and complementary classroom discussions, projects, and other activities. We will also explore and apply the principles and strategies that may be used in the design and management of more sustainable farming systems. Students will be expected to participate in physical farm labor. Meets General Education Distribution Area VI (pre-2025), Environmental Awareness and Ethics, Justice, and Social Action; Environmental Connections, Social Justice Focus Areas (2025+).
