Description
In this LNC course, students will examine the basic principles of human resources management and interrelated employment laws that help define the US
workplace. The course will introduce students to such topics as strategic planning and leadership; federal and state employment laws and related compliance activities; talent acquisition, management, training, and development; performance management; and diversity and inclusion. Students will engage with concepts through "real world" experiences, such as onboarding as new employees, outlining an organizational strategic plan, exploring social styles in team environments, and attempting to negotiate settlement of an employment conflict. Students completing the course will be able to break down the essential features of a human resources management system and think critically about the relationship between human resources functions and laws that regulate the employment environment.
