Description
This course explores the complex history and evolving relationship between religion and science, addressing questions such as: What challenges arise when sacred texts and scientific theories contradict? Are religion and science fundamentally at odds, or can they be reconciled? Examining
historical episodes such as the Copernican Revolution and Darwin’s theory of evolution as well as contemporary issues, this course provides an introductory survey of major religious concepts and scientific advancements that have shaped modern debates about the compatibility of faith and reason. Meets General Education Distribution Area III.B (pre-2025), Thinking About Meaning (2025+).
