This course seeks to understand the nature and significance of religious belief and practices in the rise and development of American life and identity. Topics explored include: Native Americans religion; the Protestant and Catholic differences; Puritan origins and emphasis; Colonial Christianity and the American Revolution; revivalism and the rise of denominationalism; slavery and religion. Meets General Education Distribution Area III.A. or III.B.
