Description
This course offers an introduction to the history of Egyptian art and archaeology from its early development to the end of pharaonic Egypt under Cleopatra, followed by a review of Egypt under Roman rulea period of over 3000 years. In addition, the course tracks the discovery of ancient Egypt first by European explorers and travelers, later by treasure hunters and collectors, and finally by
trained archaeologists. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or permission of instructor. Offered fall semester in even years. Meets General Education Distribution Area III.D
