Description

This course, intended for non-science majors, will introduce students to concepts and theories of chemistry as they apply to the practicing criminalist. The material studied will focus on real world forensic issues. Chemical concepts will be introduced on a need to know basis. Lab will involve analysis of substances such as glass, soil, hair, ink, bullets, and drugs. A student may not receive credit for both CHE 101 and CHE 102. Three hours of lecture and two hours of lab. Offered every spring semester. Meets General Education Distribution Area II.B (pre-2025), Scientific Thinking (2025+). Does not count toward Chemistry major.
