Description

Video Games: Value and Meaning delves into the cultural and social implications of gaming, a $300 billion industry which has daily impact on our lived experiences. Students will explore key moments and issues in gaming history, from rating systems to narratives of identity. Through case stories, the course examines pivotal topics such as violence, gender, and class, challenging students to critically evaluate how video games reflect and influence our daily lives. Prerequisite: membership in the BC Honors Program. Meets General Education Distribution Area I.C or Area III.C.
