Description
This course will examine the impact disasters have on the economic, political, and legislative policies of society that shape the disaster cycle. This course will also examine human interaction with the natural environment and its impact on global disasters. Topics will include evolving nature of disasters; how gender, race, ethnicity, and class influence the impact of and responses to disasters; mass and social media and disaster planning and response; and government and community planning.
