The Well-Lived Life: Existentialand Positive Perspectives in Psyc (PSY 299)
Term: 2026-2027 Academic Year Fall
Description
This Honors seminar bridges the gap between the science of happiness and the philosophy of existence to investigate why humans seek meaning and purpose. Through Socratic dialogue, synthesis of empirical research from positive psychology with existential theories, and participation in experiential well-being labs, students will analyze the psychological foundations of a life well-lived. In an era where students report record levels of isolation, anxiety, and a fragmented sense of purpose, this seminar provides a structured academic space to confront these challenges directly, moving beyond trite definitions of “wellness" and toward a deeper understanding of the human condition. This course functions as a collaborative laboratory where students will apply psychological science and theory to the collective and practical challenge of building a well-lived life. Meets General Education Category Thinking About Human Behavior.
