Description

This course is designed to teach the basics of flat water, moving water and whitewater kayaking. The curriculum covers kayak design, stroke vocabulary and paddling techniques, maneuvers, river hydrology and features, water reading and river running strategies, safety and risk management, and basic river rescue. Environmental stewardship and an appreciation for public and private waterways are emphasized throughout the course. Two weekend day trips are required. Meets General Education Distribution Area V.1.
