Life and Disability Insurance

Brevard College pays for life insurance policy on each employee equal to their annual salary.  If employees want more coverage, they can elect it and pay for it.  Coverage is also available for spouses and children as long as the employee selects extra coverage on themselves.

Brevard College pays for long term disability insurance for each employee.  This policy is "paycheck insurance".  If an employee is unable to work for more then 90 days, the LTD administrator would replace the employee's gross wages at 60%, if the claim is approved.

COBRA Insurance

COBRA is continuation of benefits after employment ends (or hours are reduced below benefits eligible levels).  COBRA information is automatically mailed after benefits end.  COBRA is always retroactive back to when coverage ended.  After the COBRA election form is received,  individuals have 60 days to elect coverage.  COBRA is expensive.  While employed or working more than 30 hours/week, Brevard pays a large portion of the premium for medical and dental insurance.  There is also a small 2% administrative fee for COBRA coverage.
