Student workers are important members of the Brevard College community. We view campus employment as an essential part of your education and professional growth. Through campus employment, you have the opportunity to acquire transferable skills and expertise that build resumes and launch careers as well earn funds to pay towards your education.

Having a job on campus is exceptional part of the Brevard experience. Whether you are giving tours, answering phones, assisting the IT department, working in the dining hall or the operations crew, filing paperwork, assisting at athletic events, or working with the theatre, you will find a great connection to the Brevard community. Plus you will gain valuable work experience and earn money toward tuition and other expenses.

The office for Career Exploration & Development will place all new work-study students. A complete list of work-study job descriptions are available below. *There are limited positions in some departments and openings are filled as they are available. Students added to the work-study program in the Spring semester will be placed in available openings on a case by case basis.  

  • Please note that a work-study award does not guarantee you employment on campus. You are expected to adhere to a level of responsibility and accountability in each work-study role assigned. Returning students may be requested to stay in a work-study placement after the completion of a successful semester/year. Upperclassman without placement are expected to check with the office for Career Exploration & Development to acquire a placement. 
  • Most new students should expect to begin working on campus with our largest work-study sites; admissions, dining services, operations, campus life, athletic department or library.
  • Campus employment hours vary depending on the department/position, but you can expect approximately 6-8 hours per week around your academic schedule for a total of 93 hours per semester. 
  • Students must complete the required number of hours to receive the financial aid work-study award. Students that do not complete their hours may owe the college and/or not receive the complete work-study award. Students may also be removed from the work-study program for inactivity. 
  • Required work-study forms below must be submitted before you can be hired by any department.
  • The Financial Aid Office located in Beam Administration Building, handles award distribution and payroll details are handled through the Payroll Office located in the second level of Beam Administration. These offices share a commitment to help you succeed in the Campus Work-Study Program. Work study placement and training is handled by the Office for Career Development in Coltrane Commons. You can email work-study questions to workstudy@brevard.edu to reach all three offices. 
  • Work-study awards are designated for undergraduate students.  Graduate students who wish to work on campus can apply for jobs via the human resources department in Beam Administration. 

Important Fall 2024 Dates 

  • June 1st - BC New Student can submit tax and other required paperwork for work-study.
  • August 19th - BC New Students Required Work-Study Orientation (See New student Orientation schedule for time and location)
  • August 20th - BC Returning Students can pick up work-study contract from their work-study supervisor 
  • August 27th - BC Returning Students - last date to sign contract with work-study supervisor or position is forfeited.  
  • September 1st - BC New Students will be notified via email of work-study placement.

Important Spring 2025 Dates 

  • January 14th - BC Returning Students can begin working in their site placement from the Fall semester unless they have been notified otherwise.
  • January 14th - BC New Students need to complete all required required payroll paperwork below.
