Student workers are important members of the Brevard College community. We view campus employment as an essential part of your education and professional growth. Through campus employment, you have the opportunity to acquire transferable skills and expertise that build resumes and launch careers as well as earn funds to pay towards your education.

Having a job on campus is an exceptional part of the Brevard experience. Whether you are giving tours, answering phones, assisting the IT department, working in the dining hall or the operations crew, filing paperwork, assisting at athletic events, or working with the theatre, you will find a great connection to the Brevard community. Plus you will gain valuable work experience and earn money toward tuition and other expenses.

The Office for Career Exploration & Development will place all new work-study students. A complete list of work-study job descriptions is available below. *There are limited positions in some departments and openings are filled as they are available. Students added to the work-study program in the Spring semester will be placed in available openings on a case-by-case basis.

  • Please note that a work-study award does not guarantee you employment on campus. You are expected to adhere to a level of responsibility and accountability in each work-study role assigned. Returning students may be requested to stay in a work-study placement after the completion of a successful semester/year. Upperclassmen without placement are expected to check with the office for Career Exploration & Development to acquire a placement.
  • Most new students can expect to begin working on campus at one of our largest work-study sites, including admissions, dining services, operations, campus life, the athletic department, or the library.
  • Campus employment hours vary depending on the department/position, but you can expect approximately 5-6 hours per week around your academic schedule for a total of 75 hours per semester.
  • Students must complete the required number of hours to receive the financial aid work-study award. Students who do not complete their hours may owe the college and/or not receive the full work-study award. Students may also be removed from the work-study program for inactivity.
  • Required work-study forms must be submitted before any department can hire you. Please see the required forms below and the instructions for submitting the forms to our payroll office.
  • The Financial Aid Office, located in the Beam Administration Building, handles award distribution, and payroll details are handled through the Payroll Office located on the second level of Beam Administration. These offices share a commitment to helping you succeed in the Campus Work-Study Program. Work-study placement and training are handled by the Office for Career Development in Coltrane Commons. You can email work-study questions to workstudy@brevard.edu to reach all three offices.
  • Work-study awards are designated for undergraduate students.  Graduate students who wish to work on campus can apply for jobs via the human resources department in the Beam Administration.

Student Accounts

Any student awarded either a Federal Work Study or Institutional Work Study may choose to apply their earnings to their account balance with BC.  To do so, please complete the Work-Study Pay Agreement Form below and return it to the Business Office for processing.  Failure to turn the form in to the Business Office may result in your agreement not being applied to your account.

A pay agreement for work-study will not be entered until all BC, state, and federal paperwork is completed to be able to work on campus and a supervisor is assigned.  The amount entered as a credit on your student account will be a maximum of $750 (100%) per semester, depending on how much you decide to have applied to your account balance.  This pending credit will reduce the amount owed on your student account.

However, you must follow the schedule below in order to have the pending credit remain on your account.  Failure to have met the hours below, depending on pay rate, will result in the pending credit being removed from your account.

For questions regarding the Work-Study Pay Agreement process, please contact Student Accounts at studentaccounts@brevard.edu or 828-641-0275.
